Green, Ohio

Green Township was first created in 1809 as part of Stark County, Ohio. Green Township became part of Summit County, Ohio after that county's establishment in 1840. Green had several unincorporated hamlets, most notably Greensburg. The City of Green was declared a City in 1992. A three square mile section in the center of the township became the Village of Green in 1988. Voters approved the merger of the Village with the rest of the township in 1991. In 1992, it became the City of Green. Fred Ravagnani was elected the first mayor of the Village of Green. John Torok was the first mayor of the City of Green.
